Meet near the first parking area to the left as you enter the park/ near the tanks/aircraft and Memorial Museum. There should be plenty of parking there.
Restrooms have a 50/50 chance of being open so HeadsUp.
We will check out this small park for waders, warblers, and waterfowl. There is a short paved trail and boardwalk that is mobility limited friendly and fairly easy walking. We may check some grassy/ vegetated areas for songbirds, this could be wet/ muddy and contain fire ant nests so closed toe shoes are recommended.
If we don’t find much, and there is time left we may check another area.
Located on the water’s edge at Sykes Creek and operated in partnership with the Veterans Memorial Center, Inc., this 2.63-acre community river park houses a Veterans Memorial Museum and a spacious meeting room available for rental. A 335 ft lighted boardwalk and benches along the waterfront invite scenic viewing and fishing.
