Exploring Florida’s Fascinating Snakes: Scream, Run, or Ponder

September 9, 2023 @ 9:30 am - 11:15 am

**Exploring Florida’s Fascinating Snakes: Scream, Run, or Ponder**

Snakes may not seem as cute and cuddly as other local wildlife, which can make people nervous when they encounter one. But Florida’s snakes play important roles in our ecosystem as prey for other wildlife, control of rodent populations and diseases, and seed dispersal. Our program will include an educational presentation and interactive activities including examining snake skeletons and shed skins.

The educational portion of the session will focus on snake biology, basic identification, and types of habitat of Florida native snakes. If seeing a snake makes you squirm, we hope you will leave the session with a greater awareness of our local snake species and an appreciation for the important roles they play in our ecosystems.

**In the session you will learn about:**

· Diversity of Florida snakes

· Snake Habitats and Behavior

· Venomous vs. Non-venomous Snakes

· Coexisting with snakes

**Itinerary:**
