Wilson’s Landing – Paddle the Wekiva River – Kayak & Swap Meet

Kayak Junkies and Orlando Kayak Fishing Community are holding a Kayak & Swap Meet at Wilson’s Landing Park on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 8am to 1pm. Yvette saw this on the Kayak Junkies Facebook page and thought it would be fun to invite our members to participate. We have all thought about upgrading our kayaks and here is a great chance to either on land or in the water try out different boats for possible purchase.
I thought we could meet at 9 am, unload boats, and launch into the Wekiva river. Maybe paddle downstream to Katie’s Landing and back to Wilson’s Landing (about 3 miles round trip). We were going to practice some basic rescue skills but since the location changed this is no longer a good idea. The water is not deep enough and the vegatation is too plentiful. You can come a bit early and according to the flyer, “Check out other kayaks, setup, and paddle items for sale or trade! Making friends is free.” This will be a great opportunity to talk with others about the best places to paddle in central Florida.
I will give you more in the comments about the “pot lunch style lunch” and how we can best particiate (or you can bring your own lunch).
