Big Sit at Sams House- North Merritt Island

Sams House will host a Big Sit event from 9am-3pm on Saturday October 7, 2023.

The Big Sit is just a fun event for birders to see and hear as many species as they can within a 17 ft circle. The rules are stay inside the circle and at least one person must be present at all times.

Please note:

*This event is better suited for as confident/advanced birders vs beginner, as sight identification and birding by ear will be used.

We have found an area that should be a good place and will be shaded and near the cabin and house. Naturalist Shannon Steele and myself will be participating in some capacity throughout the day, but we will not be able to be inside the circle all day long.

I would like to create shifts of 1 or 2 hours for this event, or you are welcome to stay the duration.

Bring a comfortable chair, water, binocs, and have a great time!!
