Monthly Mtg: Grasshopper Sparrow Conservation Program

Join us for our monthly meeting and educational presentation. This meeting will also serve as a ‘giving back’ initiative as we kindly request attendees to bring an item on the Supply Drive Wish List from the Grasshopper Sparrow conservation team (see image of list in photos and sample items below)
**Brevard Zoo Grasshopper Sparrow Conservation Program**
Presented By: Becca Downey, Conservation Curator
Florida grasshopper sparrows are the United States’ most endangered bird. The Brevard Zoo recognized the need to keep these uniquely Floridian birds in our state and joined the breeding program in 2019. The Zoo is part of a collaborative conservation effort to save this species with the Florida Grasshopper Sparrow Working Group, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, United States Air Force, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Archbold Biological Station. This species is only found in a few areas in Central and South Florida and has lost approximately 85% of their natural habitat to agriculture.
Join us to learn how the Brevard Zoo is playing an instrumental role in protecting and sustaining this native species.
